Kirby Moore, a senior wide receiver from Prosser High (Wash.), has been selected as the latest ESPN RISE National Football Player of the Week. Going into a contest last week against Ephrata, Moore needed two touchdown catches to break the national career mark of 83 set by Abram Booty at Evangel Christian High School (Shreveport, La.) in 1996. Moore ended the game with 16 catches for 267 yards and three scores to shatter the mark and led Prosser to a 48-17 triumph. Kirby is a 6-foot-2½, 195-pounder who contributed immediately as a freshman. During his freshman and sophomore seasons, he caught passes from his older brother Kellen Moore, now the starting quarterback as a redshirt freshman at Boise State. In 2007, with new QB Jordan Durbin, Moore reeled in 75 catches for 1,313 yards and 29 TDs, breaking a Washington all-class state record for TD catches. Kirby and Kellen's father is Tom Moore, the head coach at Prosser for more than 20 years. Last summer, Moore was a leading player for a team of high schoolers from the Seattle area who won the NFL's HSPD national seven-on-seven passing tournament.
