Class 4A-3A football — Moore soars to Valley record
YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC

WAPATO — Kellen Moore crushed the Valley's all-time record for passing yardage Friday night, throwing for 399 yards and five touchdowns in a 59-27 victory over Wapato in Mid-Valley League play at Dan Doornink Field.

Moore's yardage gave him 2,812 in nine games, surpassing the previous regular-season record of 2,461 set in 2003 by Eisenhower's Brett Gordon.

The junior quarterback completed 24 of 31 passes, and Nick Boydston was his favorite target on this night. The junior receiver caught seven passes for 105 yards and three touchdowns.

Prosser's Ivan Merino rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns as the fourth-ranked Mustangs improved to
8-1.

Wapato quarterback Jason Pitt threw for 153 yards and three scores, including two to Simon Alaniz. Alaniz had three receptions for 140 yards.
