Prosser 26, Pullman 23 (OT)This story was last updated Saturday, September 18th, 2004 By the Herald staff PULLMAN -- Junior running back Ivan Merino scored on third down from the 1 in a Kansas tiebreaker as Mid-Valley League power Prosser edged the Great Northern League's Pullman 26-23 on Friday in a nonleague clash. Merino finished the game with 36 carries for 190 yards and four touchdowns. He was Prosser's only rusher as the Mustangs scaled down their offense after quarterback Kellen Moore took a hard shot to the ribs on a blitz during their first series of the game. Moore, a sophomore, completed 15 of 31 pass attempts for 234 yards and an interception. He entered the game having completed 36 of 50 passes. Prosser defensive end Kyle Edwards came up with a key fumble recovery in fourth quarter. He returned the ball to the Pullman 45 with about four minutes left in regulation, setting up Merino's 4-yard, game-tying touchdown. J.C. Sherritt finished with 16 carries for 143 yards and a touchdown for Pullman, which had to settle for a 29-yard field goal in the overtime.
