. Othello knocks off top-ranked Prosser

PROSSER, Wash. — Othello’s dominating ground game put an end to Prosser’s regular-season dominance. Punishing Prosser with 64 rushing plays that totaled 283 yards, including rushing touchdowns from Matt Jensen and Jeremy Cerrillo, Othello knocked off top-ranked Prosser 30-14 Friday night at Art Fiker Stadium. The defeat snapped a 39-game regular-season winning streak for Prosser. The last time the Mustangs lost in the regular season was a 35-28 home loss to Pullman on Sept. 16, 2005. Prosser jumped ahead Friday on Isaac Anderson’s 29-yard run in the first quarter, but Othello took control in the second quarter, tying the game on Devon Lind’s 58-yard punt return, and then taking the lead on Jensen’s 7-yard scoring run. Othello added a field goal before Prosser got a second score from Anderson, who finished with 150 yards on 15 carries, to pull within 17-14 with 10 minutes to play. But the Huskies pulled away when Cerrillo threw a 21-yard scoring pass to Matt Jensen with 6:40 left, and they iced it on Cerrillo scored on a 1-yard run with 12 seconds left. Four Othello players had at least 12 rushes and 55 yards, with Jensen leading the way with 89 yards on 17 carries. Cerrillo had 79 yards on 12 carries, David Charles 62 yards on 19 rushes, and Parker Davis 55 yards on 14 rushes.

PROSSER -- Othello went into Art Fiker Stadium on Friday and did
something no one had done to Prosser in four years: Win a regular-season
football game.
Matt Jensen scored a pair of touchdowns, and Jeremy Cerrillo's 1-yard TD run sealed the Huskies' 30-14 CWAC victory over the Mustangs, snapping Prosser's 39-game regular-season win streak. The Mustangs had not lost a regular-season game since Week 3 of the 2005 season. It also was Prosser's first CWAC loss since joining the league in 2006 -- a 28-game streak -- and was its first loss in a league game since 2002 -- a 48-game streak. The Huskies took advantage of three turnovers and did not cough the ball up once. After Isaac Anderson's second TD run closed Prosser to within 17-14 early in the fourth, Othello answered as Cerrillo hit Jensen on a 21-yard TD pass to push the lead back to 10. Anderson finished with a game-high 150 yards rushing on 15 carries. Jensen led Othello's balanced attack with 89 yards on 17 carries.
