YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC

PROSSER — Ivan Merino came at Issaquah from every direction Saturday night and every time it was bad news for the visitors.

Prosser's standout senior scored the Mustangs' first three touchdowns three different ways en route to a 52-29 victory over the Eagles in non-league play at Fiker Stadium.

Merino started by returning an interception 84 yards for a score and then, after Issaquah went ahead 7-6, he returned the kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown.

Issaquah answered that one, too, to go up 15-12 in the second period, but Merino capped Prosser's ensuing drive with an 8-yard scoring run to put the Mustangs (2-0) ahead for good. He finished with 122 yards on 19 carries.

Quarterback Kellen Moore threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns.
