PROSSER — Stepping on the field at Art Fiker Stadium for the last time in the regular season, Prosser quarterback Kellen Moore made sure it was a memorable night. As did junior receiver Cody Bruns.

Both players got their names etched in the state high school football record book after their efforts in the Mustangs' 56-0 whitewash of Ephrata in Friday night's CWAC finale for both teams.

Moore, who was 36 of 50 for 406 yards and five touchdowns, broke the state's career record for touchdown passes, while Bruns broke one state record and tied another by catching two of Moore's scoring passes.

With his five TD passes, Moore now has 164 in his career, topping the mark of 162 set by DeSales' Brian Lindgren from 1995 to 1998.

The Boise State-bound Moore heads into next week's state playoffs with 58 touchdown passes this season, eight behind his own single-season state record, set last season. Twenty-four of those TD passes this season have now gone to Bruns, who broke the state's career mark in that category and tied the single-season record.

Bruns matched Joe Levens' single-season total for DeSales in 1997, and his 51 career scoring catches broke a tie with DeSales' Chad Averill (1989-92).

Bruns, who had nine catches for 60 yards Friday, is now 37 yards shy of the single-season state record for receiving yards. He also broke the all-time Valley single-season mark for receptions, with Friday's effort giving him 91, four more than Antonio Torres had for White Swan in 2001.

Moore's top target Friday was brother Kirby Moore, who had 11 grabs for 134 yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Jarod Leighty gained 123 yards on just 12 carries and two scores as top-ranked Prosser finished 9-0 in the CWAC and improved to 10-0 overall.
