PREPNATION.COM SELECTS REGIONAL PLAYERS, COACH OF THE WEEK

October 11, 2006

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - PrepNation.com -- the online home of the National Prep Poll and the PrepNation 101 All-American Team -- has named its Week 6 regional players of the week and national coach of the week for the 2006 high school football season.

NORTHEAST
Rashad White (RB) Teaneck (N.J.)

White, a 6-1, 190-pound junior speedster, ran 27 times for 325 yards and three touchdowns as the Highwaymen upset state-ranked St. Joseph Regional (Montvale), 27-14. St. Joseph Regional, which has won seven consecutive group state titles, had not lost to a public school since 2002.

EAST COAST
Chris Farquhar (QB) and Josh Wells (RB) West Potomac (Alexandria, Va.)

Farquhar, a senior, and Wells, a junior, combined for 696 yards and 11 touchdowns as the Wolverines defeated West Springfield by an amazing final score of 81-74 in four overtimes. It was Virginia state record for the most points scored in a game. Farquhar completed 19 of 37 passes for 317 yards and touchdowns. He ran 16 times for 102 yards and three more scores. Wells added 277 rushing yards on 35 carries and six touchdowns.

SOUTHEAST
Tyson Butler (RB) Cypress Lake (Fort Myers, Fla.)

The 5-10, 175-pound senior ran 30 times for 430 yards and six touchdowns in his team's 56-13 rout of Baker (Cape Coral). The performance set a new Lee County single-game rushing record, eclipsing a 398-yard night by highly touted North Fort Myers back Noel Devine last season.

MIDWEST
Victor Anderson (RB) St. Xavier (Louisville, Ky.)

Anderson (5-10, 180) had five touchdowns from three different positions in a 59-13 rout of Pleasure Ridge Park. The West Virginia-bound senior ran nine times for 168 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught a touchdown pass after lining up at receiver. Finally, he returned the second-half kickoff 97 yards for a score on his final play of the game.

MIDLANDS
Nick Peterson (RB) Gladbrook-Reinback (Reinback, Iowa)

Peterson, a 5-9, 175-pound senior, scored four touchdowns the first five times he touched the ball to help the Rebels shut out state-ranked Starmont, 35-0. Peterson had touchdown runs of 61, 47 and 70 yards and had a 45-yard touchdown reception on his team's first four possessions. Peterson also broke his own school record by rushing 14 times for 269 yards. The previous record of 268 -- one yard less -- was set one week earlier.

SOUTHWEST
Devin Thomas (RB) Madison (San Antonio)

The 5-11, 180-pound junior set a new San Antonio city record with 487 rushing yards and six touchdowns in a thrilling 48-43 win over Reagan. It was the seventh highest single-game rushing total in Texas history, according to the San Antonio Express-News. Thomas accomplished the total on only 28 carries, a 17-yard per carry average.

WEST COAST
Kellen Moore (QB) Prosser (Wash.)

Moore, a 6-1, 180-pound senior, picked up his second PN Regional Player of the Week award this season after completing 26 of 33 passes for 366 yards and seven touchdowns in a 48-0 rout of Quincy. Moore has 33 touchdown passes in six games, an average of 5.5 per outing. If the Mustangs reach the state finals for the second straight year and play in 14 games (which they are heavily favored to do), Moore is on pace to throw 77 touchdown passes. According to the National High School Sports Record Book, that would tie the national record set by Thomas Thrash of Pulaski Academy (Little Rock, Ark.) in 2001.

NATIONAL COACH OF THE WEEK
Bob Ladouceur - De La Salle (Concord, Calif.)

"Coach Lad" and staff have the Spartans back in the Top 5 of the National Prep Poll for the first time since the start of the 2004 season. Last week, De La Salle's veer rushing attack looked similiar to the form that helped the school win an unprecedented six Prep Poll titles between 1994-2003. The No. 5 Spartans gobbled up more than 350 yards on the ground and opened a 35-14 fourth-quarter lead on regionally ranked Mission Viejo en route to a 35-28 ESPNU-televised win. Ladouceur has won 311 games with only 19 losses and three ties in his 28th season at De La Salle.
