2007-2008 Mustang Boys game recaps

2/22/08 - In Toppenish, the Mustangs came to play this night especially on defense as they hounded Ellensburg all night and did not allow them to get into any rhythm. The Mustangs jumped out to a 15 to 5 first quarter lead and let the Bulldogs only score five more points in the second for a 29 to 10 halftime lead. The Bulldogs found a little more offense in the second half but the Mustangs matched them by scoring 25 to Ellensburg's 23 points as the Mustangs went on for a 54 to 33 victory that guarantees them a berth at state. The Mustangs will face Ephrata to determine the #1 & #2 seeds to state. Kellen Crawford led the Mustangs with 15 pts & 12 rebs, Kirby Moore added 10 pts with 4 assists & Cody Bruns chipped in 7 pts.

2/19/08 - At Bowden Court, the Mustangs came out of the gate strong and went up 20 to 7 after the first quarter and pushed the lead to twenty at the half to lead 32 to 12. The Mustangs would not lose their intensity after the half and sank the Vikings by a final of 78 to 47. The boys will now take on the Ellensburg Bulldogs in the second round of districts. Kellen Crawford led the way with 26 pts, Cody Bruns had 14 pts & Kirby Moore added 9 pts.

2/16/08 - In Selah, the Mustangs tailed the Vikings 26 to 30 at the half, but came out strong in the second half to pull away to lead 61 to 54 with a few minutes left to play. The Vikings would not go quietly and rallied to pull within 61 to 59, but the Mustangs held on for the win. Prosser won the CWAC league title outright and now go into districts as the #1 seed. Kellen Crawford had 14 pts & 6 rebs, Cody Bruns added 12 pts, while Keegan Pilot chipped in 10 pts & 6 rebs.

2/12/08 - At Bowden Court, in a thriller the Mustangs fell behind out of the gate as they were outscored 12 to 21 after the first quarter, but quickly went on a streak of their own as the outpaced Ellensburg 19 to 8 in the second. The third quarter was evenly matched as the Mustangs edged Ellensburg 13 to 12 to lead 44 to 41. The fourth was more of the same as neither team could forge ahead by more than four points, with 16 seconds remaining Ellensburg hit a shot at the top of they key to tie the game up at 53 to 53. After a timeout with nine seconds left Cody Bruns took the ball at mid court dribbled to the top of the key and hit nothing but net with 2 seconds remaining to give the Mustangs the 55 to 53 victory and clinch at least a tie for the CWAC league title. Also, congratulations to Kellen Crawford who reached the 1,000 pt milestone in his career and the fourth Mustang to do so. Cody Bruns led the Mustangs with 15 pts, Kellen Crawford added 13 pts & 7 rebs, while Jordan Durbin chipped in 11 pts. 

2/9/08 - In, Grandview, if there are two games you have to see in season it's the Prosser vs. Grandview games and tonight lived up to the rivalry. If you like lousy refs, a steamy setting and Kellen Crawford having a monster game then this was the game to see. The Mustangs came to play in the first quarter as they outpaced the Greyhounds 20 to 16, the second quarter was filled with tough D and bad calls as Prosser scored nine points to Grandview's eight. Prosser seemed to pull away late in the third quarter as they increased their lead to double digits, but you can't count the Greyhounds out as they hit several three pointers to pull back even in the fourth. The Mustangs would not falter this night as the pulled away and won 61 to 53. Kellen Crawford was "en fuego" as he had a season high 30 pts & 18 rebs, while Cody Bruns & Keegan Pilot both added 9 pts and Kirby Moore added 6 pts but had 12 rebs & 4 assists

2/8/08 - At Bowden Court, the Mustangs got off to a good start as they outscored the Huskies 18 to 6 in the first quarter, but Othello hung over the next two periods as they outscored the Mustangs 23 to 21 in the second & third quarters. The Mustangs finally put the Huskies away in the fourth 55 to 42. Kellen Crawford led the Mustangs with 19 pts, Cody Bruns added 11 pts and Kirby Moore chipped in 8 pts.

2/4/08 - In Ephrata, the Mustangs stayed with the Tigers in the first quarter and were tied 10 to 10 after one, but the Tigers outscored the Mustangs by six, three and five in 2nd, 3rd & 4th quarters as Ephrata avenged as earlier loss by beating the Mustangs 54 to 40. Cody Bruns led the boys with 19 pts, Kellen Crawford added 15 pts & 9 rebs.

2/1/08 - At Bowden Court, the Wildcats played aggressive in the first with the Mustangs, as Prosser led only 15 to 10 after the first quarter and 29 to 21 at the half. The Mustangs came out more aggressive in the second half and dominated Toppenish 36 to 23, cruising to a 65 to 44 victory. Kellen Crawford led the way with 21 pts & 13 rebs, Cody Bruns added 15 pts & 7 rebs with 8 steals and Jordan Durbin & Keegan Pilot both put in 6 pts each.

1/26/08 - In Wapato, the Wolves came out and tried to play the sloooooowwwww down game and it worked for most of the night because at the end of the third quarter the game was tied 28 to 28. The game would pick up in the fourth quarter and the Mustangs seemed to put the game away but Wapato came back with some timely three pointers and the Mustangs missed six free throws with under 10 seconds to play, but the Mustangs held on for a 50 to 48 win to remain in first place. Kellen Crawford was the dominate scorer again as he punched in 20 pts & 17 rebs, while Kirby Moore had 8 pts & Cody Bruns added 8 pts & 7 steals.

1/25/08 - In Moxee, the Red Devils came out strong in the first half as they led 15 to 9 after the first quarter and 31 to 26 at the half, but the Mustangs would not stay down for long as the Mustangs outscored East Valley 18 to 9 in the third quarter. Keegan Pilot was the hero down the stretch as he hit a key free throw with 9 seconds left to seal the victory after the Devils hit back to back 3 pointers to pull within three. Prosser won 56 to 52 to remain undefeated in CWAC play. Kellen Crawford led the way with 20 pts & 13 rebs Cody Bruns added 14 pts and Jordan Durbin put in 13 pts.

1/19/08 - At Bowden Court, the Mustangs got a handful from Quincy in the first quarter as the Mustangs only led 17 to 15, but they would not falter tonight as Prosser outscored the Jacks 27 to 12 over the second & third quarters to pull away for a 56 to 40 victory. Kellen Crawford led the way again has he dumped in 21 pts and Cody Bruns added 16 pts including  four 3 pointers.

1/18/08 - At Bowden Court, the Mustangs fought hard to shake the pesky Vikings in the second half after leading only 36 to 32 at the half, but in the end Prosser sunk the Vikings 68 to 57. Kellen Crawford led the Mustangs with 23 pts & 22 rebs, followed by Kirby Moore with 16 pts, Cody Bruns with 11 pts and Dustin Crawford 8 pts.

1/15/08 - In Ellensburg, Kirby Moore put in a layup with 1:45 to play that gave the Mustangs the lead for good, as they rallied from from a 7 pt third quarter deficit to defeat the Ellensburg Bulldogs 59 to 55 and remain unbeaten in CWAC play. Cody Bruns led all Mustangs with 20 pts, Kellen Crawford added 14 pts & 10 rebs, while Kirby Moore chipped 8 pts & 5 assists.

1/11/08 - At Bowden Court, in front of a packed gym (thank you fans) the Mustangs jumped all over the Greyhounds with a 20 to 8 first quarter lead and never lost it as they won 66 to 50. Kellen Crawford led the Mustangs with 19 pts, 20 rebs & 4 assists, Cody Bruns added 18 pts and Kirby Moore put in 12 pts.

1/5/08 - In Othello, the Mustang boys continued their winning ways as they put together a 33 to 18 run over the second and third periods to pull away from the Othello Huskies and remain undefeated in league play with a 58 to 42 win. Cody Bruns led the Mustangs in points with 20 pts & 6 assists, Kellen Crawford added 15 pts & 16 rebs.

1/4/08 - At Bowden Court, the Mustangs galloped back from a 31 to 37 halftime deficit with a 26 to 10 run in the third period to hand the Tigers their first loss of the season 75 to 60. Kellen Crawford led all Mustang scorers with 21 pts & 10 rebs, Jordan Durbin put in 17 pts & 9 rebs and Cody Bruns chipped in 16 pts.

12/28/07 - The Suns led 31 to28 and the Mustang boys could not recover as they fell 47 to 63 to Southridge. Cody Bruns led the Mustangs with 11 pts, Kellen Crawford added 10 pts and Keegan Pilot put in 8 pts.

12/20/07 - The Mustangs regained their winning ways as the jumped all over the Wildcats in the first as they led 46 to 21 at the half, but it was more of the same as the Mustangs manhandled Toppenish 70 to 52 at the end. Kellen Crawford was high scorer with 23 pts & 13 rebs, Cody Bruns punched in 17pts & 3 rebs, while Anthony Flores & Kirby Moore each added 8 pts.

12/18/07 - The Mustangs fought valiantly but could not overcome some poor shooting and the hot shooting of Bret Clyde as they fell to the Eagles of Connell 56 to 62 in non league play. Unofficially the Mustangs were lead by Cody Bruns with 12 pts and Kirby Moore & Jordan Durbin who both added 11 pts each.

12/15/07 - In a game of two halves, the Mustangs exploded on a 27 to 7 2nd qtr run to lead 48 to 26 halftime lead. The Wolves then responded with their own 29 to 15 run in the 3rd qtr to and pulled within 4 pts in the 4th, but the Mustangs responded and hit their shots down the end of the game to win 85 to 74. Cody Bruns lead the way with 24 pts, 8 rebs & 8 assists, Kellen Crawford added 22 pts with 17 rebs, Kirby Moore put in 15 pts with 7 rebs and Anthony Flores chipped in 14 pts & 8 assists.

12/14/07 - The Mustangs had to overcome the officials, but pulled away in the second half for a 55 to 43 victory over the Red Devils. Anthony Flores & Cody Bruns led the way with 12 pts each, while Kellen Crawford added 10 pts.

12/11/07 - In the CWAC & season opener for the Mustangs. The Mustangs won a hard fought game over the Quincy Jackrabbits 58 to 55. Kellen Crawford led the way with 17 pts & 10 rebs, while Cody Bruns added 13 pts & 8 assists.
